When you buy a broadband service from an ISP (Internet Service Provider), they are only responsible for the service delivered to your premises or, at best, to the router.Īlso, if you buy a service that offers “up to” a certain speed, that’s basically the best case. The engineer should have made it clear that you cannot check the speed of your broadband using wifi.
Can you recommend a speed checker that is reliable, and not connected to any particular company? Steve
He said this test was more reliable as it only used his company’s network. His speed checker – unlike mine – showed that it was getting the required speed. An engineer came round and said there was nothing wrong with the router. Recently, I have only been getting 1Mbps from my wifi when it is supposed to be up to 70Mbps.
